IFSEC 2011: Y3K will use J2K Video’s SharpView platform for recording it’s Xvision range of HD and megapixel cameras.

Y3K selected SharpView after ‘exhaustive’ testing of NVR and VMS systems on the market.

SharpView has been installed at Huntingdonshire College in Cambridgeshire because of performance, flexibility and above all lowest cost of ownership for the college. SharpView’s efficiency in design allows users to create systems that are less than half the price of leading brands. Not only saving money in terms of equipment and software costs, but electricity bills are slashed due to reduced power consumption.

Jay Patel author of the article, points out that the days of compromising on the quality of CCTV recordings is over. SharpView allows security systems to be designed to make full use of the high video quality delivered by cameras – without the need for high compression and reducing frame rates.

Touchstone Electronics selected J2K Video’s flagship SharpView Corporate solution to upgrade an exisitng analogue system.

Including several AV3100DN and AV1300M megapixel cameras from Arecont Vision and analogue PAL cameras from Pelco streamed through JVC’s VN-E4E video encoders, the system has been running continuously without interruption for over 12 months, providing Mixed Freight Services with a solution that not only meets mandatory Department for Transport regulations for air cargo X-Ray services, but also provides essential security video evidence at the site near Heathrow Airport.

Of the system, Adrian Soper, Technical Director of TEL said “we are very impressed with the reliability and quality of J2K Video’s products as we have never had a call out from our customer during more than 12 months that the system has been in operation. The brief was to improve the image quality in key areas on Campus, so Zepha Security demonstrated video recordings provided by J2K Video which were made at the headquarters of a major bank in the City of London using J2K Video’s SharpView system. On seeing the quality, the Head of Security commissioned Zepha to install the J2K Video system alongside their existing PAL based CCTV.

The Head of Security at the University said, “as a proponent of advanced technology, I knew that using Megapixel CCTV like SharpView was the only way that we could get the best return from every camera installed.” He added, “our existing system was upgraded to digital recording but the quality of video was little improved, but as a result of Zepha’s demonstration, it was obvious that a further upgrade to Megapixel was a more appropriate option than adding several dozens of more normal cameras.”
